Papi Salsa, age 53

I started when I was a baby, when my father gave me a baby bicycle. All my life I’ve loved bicycles. I’ve been with these guys about 10 yrs, but all my life I’ve loved bicycles!

The Schwinn bicycles were from the old generation, maybe the 18th century—who knows?

Everything I do is about Puerto Rican style. I brought a souvenir map back from Puerto Rico, and then I think “Ahhhh ..... that would be a great decoration!” I decorate other guys’ bicycles, but some decorations are for me only. The other guys would like me to make one for them, but it is my style, only for me. It is unique!

I’ve got three bicycles: two decoration bicycles, and one working bicycle, that just looks normal. The working bicycle is the one my grandfather gave me when I was a boy. It’s all messed up ‘cause it’s my working bicycle.

Every time I go to the East Side, West Side, the Park, everywhere I go, people stop me and want to take a picture with me. They come from other states, and they all want to take my picture.

In my case, I get along with everybody! I meet with the Bronx club and the Brooklyn club. They all love me ‘cause I have a good heart for everybody!

When anybody sees me with that bicycle, they know I have a good attitude!
